Honda to Pursue Partnerships Around the Globe in New Venture

Some exciting new things are on the horizon for Honda. The global open innovation hub within Honda R&D Americas, Inc., Honda Silicon Valley Lab, is increasing its areas of focus beyond automobiles and as a new company, it will broaden its responsibility to develop meaningful partnerships.

Honda Innovations will seek dynamic collaborations that inspire change within all areas of Honda's activities. Honda Innovations will stay in Mountain View, CA, and function globally as it pursues partnerships with visionaries stretching from startup and global brands to design and development groups.

According to Honda’s website, Honda Innovations' will concentrate on Connected Vehicle/Internet of Things (IoT) services, Human Machine Interface, Machine Intelligence/Robotics, Connected Services, Personal Mobility, Sharing Economy, and Industrial Innovation.

"We're witnessing a convergence of technologies that will transform mobility, create new business opportunities, and change the way we manufacture products," said Honda Innovations CEO, Nick Sugimoto. "By looking broadly across technology areas and partnering with innovators across the globe, we can create products and services that enhance the lives of our customers."

In the past few years, Honda has made big leaps. After launching in 2011, the then Honda Silicon Valley Lab teamed up with Apple to integrate Apple CarPlay® into Honda vehicles. Honda also worked with Google to assimilate Android Auto™ into its lineup.
