Lee Certilman of Nardy Honda Smithtown: TIME Dealer of the Year Nominee

We are pleased to announce that Lee Certilman, president and dealer principal at Nardy Honda Smithtown, has been nominated for the 2017 TIME magazine Dealer of the Year award. The TIME Dealer of the Year program honors new-car dealers in America who exhibit exceptional performance in their dealerships and perform distinguished community service. Dealers are nominated by members of the ATAE (Automotive Trade Association Executives) and the winner is acknowledged at the annual NADA convention.

The TIME Dealer of the Year award will be presented on January 27, 2017 at the NADA Convention in New Orleans, LA. At the convention, all Dealer of the Year nominees will be included in the Dealer of the Year photo display at the convention center.

From the official TIME Dealer of the Year nomination press release:

"The TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry's most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the nation's most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service. Certilman, 55, was chosen to represent the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition - one of only 49 auto dealers from 16,000 nationwide - nominated for the 48th annual award.

[Certilman's] father, Bernard, was in the automobile business before him for 40 years and his grandfather, Philip, had a Chrysler Plymouth dealership in Brooklyn, New York, before that for nearly 40 years. "As a third-generation car dealer, it almost seemed preordained that I would work in this industry," he said. "I was eager to use the marketing management principals I developed at my previous companies and to build something that I owned, could be proud of and perhaps pass on to one or both of my children someday." Today, Certilman owns Nardy Honda Smithtown with his two brothers.

Certilman was nominated for the TIME Dealer of the Year award by Mark Schienberg, president of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association."
